High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, is also called the ""good” cholesterol.
That’s because here the cholesterol is attached to the “good” lipoprotein, HDL. HDL-cholesterol helps carry excess cholesterol from your blood to the liver, where it’s broken down. It, therefore, helps remove excess cholesterol from your body. So, it’s good for your heart’s health. Having a higher HDL-cholesterol level is therefore better.
