Progestin-only contraceptives usually have minimal, if any, effects on your test results. Combined oral contraceptives (containing both estrogen and progestin) may affect the levels of some biomarkers. For example, they may increase the levels of HDL and VLDL cholesterol, triglycerides, saturated fatty acids and GlycA. Therefore, you may notice that your results change if you start or stop using combined oral contraceptives, or switch contraceptive brands between two tests.
Keeping this in mind, you can still use My Nightingale to track your metabolic health and to see effects of lifestyle change.
